My very first contest!

I need help. See, Mr. Darling asked me for a list of Christmas gift ideas. Our anniversary, my birthday, his birthday, and Christmas all fall within a six-week period, so we both tend to run out of gift ideas unless we give each other a gift list.

The problem is, I can't think of anything that I want!! But when I told him that, he said that unless I want 10 sweater jackets (which was one of the few things I could think of to put on my list, and which he already got me for my birthday), I'd better think of something.

So, help me! Please! I've been on findgift.com. I've been on etsy. I've been on ebay. And I can NOT find anything else to put on my list! Here's what I have so far:

Pajamas
Season 4 of The Office on dvd
Picture frames (How generic is that? I'm so out of ideas!)
A pearl necklace (get your minds out of the gutter) to match the bracelet he gave me as a wedding gift
That's it!

So, I'm officially starting a contest. Give me ideas! Great ideas! Unique ideas! What's an item that you can't live without? What was the best, most creative Christmas gift you ever got in your life? Do you know of something gorgeous and charming and totally Tova-esque that you think will suit me perfectly? If so, let me know! If you can provide links to websites where Mr. Darling can actually buy these gifts, that would be extra appreciated! (Remember, he's a full-time med student, so online shopping is way easier for him than going to the mall.)

You can enter as many gift ideas as you want (seriously, I need lots of ideas). I will pick the top two (or three, or five, if I'm feeling generous) gift ideas as winners. In the spirit of Christmas, each winner will get a Christmas ornament! (Unless of course, you don't celebrate Christmas, in which case, tell me what you do celebrate, and I'll find you a different gift.)

If Mr. Darling actually buys one of your suggestions for me for Christmas, I'll even post a picture on my blog and give you full credit for your creative gift-giving genius (I can't guarantee this part of the prize, obviously.)

Tell your friends, your favorite bloggers, your mom, your readers, and encourage them to participate! The contest will last for one week (because Mr. D is really getting after me to give him my gift list), so get your gift ideas in by Wednesday, November 19 at 9:30 pm.

Now get shopping, everyone! Mr. Darling is waiting!

Anything Ed Hardy...a pretty trucker hat with a cute t-shirt, anything Ed Hardy screams ROCKSTAR!

Oh...a tattoo!

Ok really though, how about a fabulous get-away somewhere or a make-up splurge.

As someone who really likes to cook, I would never be insulted by getting really good stuff for my kitchen. It's not the same as getting a vacuum cleaner. Of course, I have no idea what his budget is, but here are some ideas.

My most favorite gift from my husband in semi-recent years was for our 5 year anniversary. He planned a trip for us. He figured out where we were going, when we'd need to leave certain destinations by, where we were going to stay, where we were going to eat and fun different excursions while we were away. He's always been a very good secret keeper so I had no idea what he was planning and I loved it.

Could your hubby do something like that for you, maybe?

(We also have Christmas, our anniversary, his birthday and Valentine's Day all within a very short time span, too. I totally get the running out of gift ideas thang. ;0) )

I adore pretty much anything in the MoMA catalog, but have never actually bought anything for myself, just other people. I'm just waiting for someone to get me something from it. Take a look and I bet there will be something you can't live without.

The first thing that came to mind, since you mentioned your pearl bracelet- my husband bought me a pair of diamond stud earrings off ebay a couple years ago- they come in all sizes and prices- and they are totally classic and you can wear them every day. They could be one of my most favorite things.

Also, I have this canvas tote bag with my initials on it and it is awesome! I have used it to tote school books, beach stuff, baby stuff, on overnight trips, as a airport carryon bag, craft items... anything and everything! And you can pick your size and color combo!!!

If I think of something else, I will let you know. I love meaningful gift giving!

A....baby? :) haha...I am all for EVERYONE having babies right now.

If I win, I deserve the grandest ornament of them all! haha...

Um. How about a new purse? Or a new laptop? Or a customized blog design just for you? Or a new jacket? Or boots? Or an iPhone...

Or...forget presents all together and use the $ to go on a getaway - just the two of you!

sephora. gift. cards.

Or, the Kindle by Amazon.com. It's pricey but super sweet, too. My guess is, since you write, you also read. Everywhere. This would be a great thing to have with you. Follow blogs, read books (aka Twilight for the 19th time) or whatever you want. I'll never get one, so if you get it, may I live vicariously through you??

Thank you for your note on my blog! =)

I've got a hubby who has no clue as to what to give for presents... but he did a fine job before we married by always giving me jewelry! When we married, he stopped! DAH! lol If jewelry isn't your thing, have your hub take you on a little shopping trip and a night out with dinner. =)

Love this! Soooo much fun. Ok, a great gift, and although you may not think so right now, is matching luggage. If you are a high matinence gal (like me) it Louis Vuitton all the way. Start out small. Maybe with the small roller(great for short overnights and small enough to carry onto the plane) and a small duffle to match. Seriously, I know Louis is $$ BUT it will last forever and I swear you'll be hooked. If Louis is not your bag-(ha! little pun there) there are lots of other moderately priced brands that would suit your tastes.

ooh... I agree with Candy. I have been eyeing some matching luggage, but I think I will purchase around tax time.

Ooooh, fun contest, Tova! :-)

The best gift I ever received was given to me by my ex-husband's new Mother-in-Law (kinda weird, I know, but she's lovely!) who owns a tiny antique toy store and heard how I used to collect Strawberry Shortcake Dolls as a kid in the 80's, but when I was a teenager I sold them all and I regretted it ever since. She felt sorry for me and gave 8 different 80's Strawberry Shortcake Dolls to me one Christmas. Isn't that sweet? I love them. I have them displayed in my kitchen. :-) So, that's my first gift idea for you: if you had a favorite toy as a kid and it is no longer around, perhaps Mr D. could track one down in an antique store or on ebay. (By the way, the best gift I ever gave was kinda the same thing - my first Christmas with my husband I gave him a certain Transformer Action Figure (don't call it a "doll", God forbid!!) he had always wanted as a kid, but never got. He cried his eyes out when he opened it. Aww. :-))

As for non-old-childhood-toy ideas, I'm all for a massage, a trip, dinner somewhere nice, that kind of stuff. Or, for something more quirky, I happen to know that The Soup Nazi from Seinfeld (yes, the real Soup Nazi actor from the show!! Larry Thomas!) sells personalized autographed ladels as well as photos on ebay. I bought a pic and a ladel and they are on my kitchen wall and they look FANTASTIC - people about die whenever they see it!! Nothing seems to please people more than my Soup Nazi autographs! He's a really nice guy, he'll write whatever you want on the photos and ladels. Take a look: his ebay auction numbers are 280284780665 for the photo, and 280284781053 for the ladel. His username is ltdmbt. If you're a Seinfeld fan, you really can't beat a Soup Nazi autographed ladel! I absolutely love mine! :-)

That's all I can think of right now. But if something else comes to me, I'll let you know.

Hope that helped!

This is hard, I have only been over to your blog a couple of times, since you stopped by for my contest.

Someone else already said this but I agree, IPhone, that's what I want.

My second choice would be the best perfume ever Coco Madamoiselle by Channel, love it. Or how about a Coach handbag, who wouldn't love one of those. Not the one with the big C's just a simple one....

Have fun, can't wait to see what you get.
