Oh, Valentine's Day Tree...

...oh, Valentine's Day Tree! How lovely are your branches!

The Christmas tree is still up in the Darling house, and frankly, I don't want to take it down. I hate taking the tree down (it's artificial, so it can stay up without looking depressing), because once you remove it, the living room looks sad and lonely. I mean, don't get me wrong, I like our living room, and our furniture isn't too bad, but when you remove the Christmas tree in any house, the room looks less festive than it did before. A Christmas tree makes the house look warm and cheerful.

I felt Mr. Darling out about leaving it up for a little while longer, and he said that I might as well leave it up until we move for his residency... which will probably be in June. JUNE!! I have officially gotten the green light to leave a Christmas tree in my living room for five more months!! Yahoo!

So, I'm thinking, rather than just making us look lazy, I could make us look abnormally festive by decorating the tree for Valentine's Day, Easter, St. Patrick's Day, etc. I'm not even joking about this. I am seriously considering buying a bunch of hearts and hanging them all over the tree. My neighbors (and some of you, perhaps) might mock me, but I'll be happy, so who cares?

Don't forget that tomorrow is Totally Awkward Tuesday! Spend a few minutes now recalling an awkward moment that you've repressed because it's painfully embarrassing, and then write about it for tomorrow!

I love it! And since I'm the only one in my house, I give myself permission! I suppose I should start watering it again, though, as it's real. Hmmmm...

Oh, and I've already got my post ready for tomorrow, so put me in the list, and I'll link to you when yours comes up!

I LOVE IT!!! My roommate said we could keep ours up until Valentine's day and I said, "promise?"

:D

I'm with you tho... if my "Mr" told me to leave the tree up until June, I would be celebrating too! You never know how many times you'll have this opportunity, Tova Darling!! RUN WITH IT!

haha, i love that idea!!

it DOES look weird once you take down the tree. our living room looked absolutely fine & decorative before we put ours up and now it's down.. it looks empty & boring :(

take pictures! :)

Oh my GOD, that is such a freaking GOOD idea! BUT YOU MUST take pictures of each of the changes!!!

How big is your living room anyway? There's room for a tree AND a stripper pole? I'm impressed.

Residency? Is your husband perhaps going in to Psychology?? hehe

I actually think its a awesome idea. The year long holiday tree, we aren't aloud to call it Christmas anymore anyway! : )

What about a superbowl tree? If your team is the one that makes it to the Superbowl you could decorate it in your teams colors or something too! I took mine down already (and then had a lovely burning of the Christmas tree celebration, in which the kiddos claimed we were sending our tree to God in smoke form, with marshmellows and smores and the whole 9 yards.) But NEXT YEAR....I will probably leave mine up longer :D

PS there is seriously something spooky about these word verification things...they always seem to be right on topic. My word for this post is (I kid you not) Missme

Hey, if it makes you happy, why the heck not? lol Go for it!

(my tree is real and becoming a fire hazzard, so that just won't work in this house. LOL)

You are so right about removing the tree. My daughter's friend was over at our house yesterday and she looked in the living room and said, "Did you change the color in here? It looks different-like stark and whiter." I realized later that it looked stark to her without the tree and the Christmas decorations.

There are a lot of people who do that (although I must admit I know none of them personally!).

There was a definite difference in the "feel" of our living room when we took our magnificent tree down this year. It was real, though, and the base was leaking, so it'd have never made it till June!

Freaking outstanding idea!
I just threw out our gigantic, wilted and bone-dry tree yesterday, but I might get a new one, just for Valentines!

I had a pastor who's grandmother left her artificial tree up year around. Kathleen told us that on her birthday, her presents would be under the tree. I want to do it, someday. I am weird though.

Pure genius! You should sell the idea to Hallmark and make millions.

I will mock you. But it will be with affection. Affectionate mocking, if you will.

I'm all about taking the tree down as soon as Christmas is done, but I think it's kind of cute that you are planning on decorating it for each holiday.
